They will end up in the eight Favourites folders located on the left side of the browser.
Each preset you mark as a Favourite can be in one of eight different colors to help keep them organized. If you right-click on a preset name there is a menu where you can mark it as a Favourite, Junk (removes it from list), and other file manipulation choices (rename, copy to a folder, etc.). On the right side of the browser it will show details about the preset you’ve selected. On the left side of the browser display you can switch to different categories such as Basses, Poly and Mono Leads, Pads & Strings, Chords and many more. Over to the right of the preset name field is a button labeled Presets which will load the browser screen. You can also right-click on the preset name field to initialize the preset to start your own from scratch. Left/right arrows on either side of it will skim through the presets one at a time. At the top-middle of the Hive display it will show the currently loaded preset. Before I went into the depths of the many synthesis settings, I wanted to audition some of those presets first. Hive has over 2,300 presets to choose from. I won’t cover every single feature in Hive because it’s jam packed with functions, but I will try to cover most of them.Ī browser can help you to navigate through the presets in a plugin. Hive 2 requires Mac OS X 10.7+, Windows 7+, or Linux. Since then, many new improvements have found their way into the synth including wavetable functionality. That however is old news now, as the original version of Hive was released in 2015.
The original version of Hive seemed to be a new competitor for the likes of Sylenth1 and Spire. For this issue I will be taking a look at Hive 2.

When I heard there would be a major update for one of their synth plugins, I was definitely interested. Couple that with a no-fuss copy protection and stellar support and, well, the rest is history. There seems no stopping their creativity and the quality of the products improves with useful updates over time. With titles such as Zebra, Bazille, ACE and Diva, they have a powerful synth plugin lineup. Maybe it’s because their software is usually breaking down barriers or at least pushing them to new limits.
